Fall in love: Gengenbach
Romantic old town – surrounded by magnificent nature
You just have to fall in love with Gengenbach, with its winding lanes full of cheerful, half-timbered houses. Town gates, turrets, and an imposing Renaissance-style town hall, storks' nests, decorated flower boxes, and sundials, Benedictine monastery, and little herb gardens. It's picture-perfect.
The entire old town has been a registered landmark since 1955 to preserve the precious heritage of the old "free imperial town".
Why don't you also pay a visit to the museums of Gengenbach: the museum of military history in the Kinzigtor tower, the rafting museum in the former railroad keeper's house, the carnival museum in the Niggel Tower, or the Haus Löwenberg Museum with its changing exhibitions and events.
Speaking of events:
the traditional carnival, known as the Gengenbacher Fasnet, in the spring and the world-famous Gengenbach Advents Calendar in December are absolute highlights!
Nightwatchman tour through Gengenbach: a special kind of guided tour
